About Course

The GBV Training in Kenya builds practical skills to identify, prevent, and address Gender-Based Violence across various settings. It emphasizes survivor-centered care, legal standards, and community-based interventions that promote safety and dignity.

Offered online and in-person, the program includes a recognized certification upon completion.

Objectives:

By the end of this GBV Training Course, participants will be able to:

• Understand key concepts, causes, and consequences of gender-based violence.
• Identify and analyze different forms of GBV and their impact on individuals and communities.
• Apply survivor-centered approaches in prevention, care, and response services.
• Integrate GBV prevention and response mechanisms into programs and institutional policies.
• Strengthen coordination, monitoring, and reporting on GBV interventions.

Module 2: Legal and Policy Frameworks for GBV Prevention and Response

• International conventions and treaties on GBV (CEDAW, UNSCR 1325, etc.)
• National legal frameworks and policies on GBV
• Institutional roles and coordination mechanisms
• Human rights-based approaches to GBV prevention
• Challenges and opportunities in policy enforcement

Module 3: Survivor-Centered Approaches and Case Management

• Principles of a survivor-centered approach
• Psychological first aid and trauma-informed care
• Referral pathways and multi-sectoral coordination
• Confidentiality, informed consent, and ethical considerations
• Supporting male, female, and child survivors

Module 4: Community Engagement and Prevention Strategies

Delivery Method

This program is taught through a mix of practical activities, theory, group work and case studies. Training manuals and additional reference materials are provided to the participants.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the GBV Training in Kenya, participants will be awarded a certificate of course completion, recognizing their competence in Gender-Based Violence prevention, response, and survivor support.
